Bath products

bath, oil bath; bath additives

What could be more relaxing after a hard day or in cold, wet weather than a full bath? The warm water and the beguiling bath products are balm for body and soul and make sure that stress and hecticness fall away from us all by themselves. A bath is also really good for tension, aching limbs or an impending cold. Even our skin is happy about the time out in the warm water in the best case. In the best case? Yes, because a number of conditions have to be met for our skin to literally blossom after a bath. For example, the bath temperature plays an important role, and the choice of bath products also has a major influence on the care and wellness effect.

Pleasantly tempered water and high-quality products: This makes bathing fun!

If you’re really chilled out, you’ll want to turn the hot water tap on wide open. However, bath water should not be warmer than 38 degrees Celsius, because otherwise the time out in the tub may affect the circulation. In addition, high water temperatures draw moisture from the skin and cause it to dry out. The perfect bath temperature depends on the desired effect. If you want to refresh and invigorate yourself, a maximum water temperature of 35 degrees is just right. If the water measures 36 to 38 degrees, it has a relaxing and soothing effect. In addition, the bath should not last longer than a maximum of 20 minutes: even the most robust skin barrier cannot withstand more. The skin would swell up far too much and unwanted germs would have an easy time penetrating. Anyone who already suffers from very dry skin should even reduce the time of the bath somewhat, because it often reacts to an extensive full bath with itching, redness and flaking. Consumers should also take a critical look at their bath products. If the bath products foam a lot, caution is advised, because a lot of foam means that they also contain a lot of surfactants. Conventional bath products such as soaps weaken the skin’s acid mantle because they are alkaline. If the product also contains artificial fragrances, the risk of allergies increases dramatically. But what actually makes good Bath products and which ones are there at all?

These bath products turn the tub bath into an indulgent wellness ritual

Nourishing and moisturizing oil baths are a real boon for the skin. They contain lipid-replenishing substances that prevent the skin from drying out and give it a supple feeling. Good oil baths are based on kahai, wheat germ, coconut, almond, avocado, argan or jojoba oil. These bath products gently coat the skin with a protective greasy film while bathing and regenerate it at the same time. Therefore, it is important that the skin is not rubbed with a towel after bathing, but only lightly patted dry. For SPA application in the home bathroom, bath products or oil baths with essential oils are ideal. They stimulate the senses in very different ways: rosemary, camphor and citrus aromas, for example, have a refreshing and invigorating effect, lavender is relaxing, and spruce needles and eucalyptus are soothing for colds. Bath products with essential oils are like a little aromatherapy at home. Luxurious and yet wonderfully skin-friendly are bath salts. They bind moisture in the skin and have a slightly firming effect. Depending on the composition of the product, the minerals they contain can even support the healing process in the case of skin irritations. Bath salts are an excellent choice especially for very sensitive skin or neurodermatitis. They often contain additional valuable plant extracts such as shea butter or jojoba oil. Incidentally, such bath products are also popular with children. The reason: bath salts transform into cheerfully colorful baths in no time at all with a few drops of food coloring!

In bath products there are many cosmetic ingredients known for their beneficial properties.

  1. aloe vera: aloe vera is known for its moisturizing and soothing properties, especially useful for dry and irritated skin.
  2. shea butter: shea butter contains many nutrients and vitamins that can help nourish and protect the skin.
  3. coconut oil: coconut oil is a natural moisturizer and can help soothe and nourish dry skin.
  4. sea salt: sea salt can help remove dead skin cells and exfoliate the skin, while providing minerals that are good for the skin.
  5. chamomile extract: chamomile extract has soothing and anti-inflammatory properties that can be helpful for sensitive skin.

Bath products especially for face and hair

A cozy bath is virtually predestined for nourishing beauty rituals. So why not treat your complexion to a fine mask and your hair to a pampering treatment? Relaxing in the warm water, the time it takes for the mask to work will pass in no time … and afterwards the body will be perfectly cared for from head to toe! The care program in the tub is also practical, because the water for washing off or rinsing is finally within reach!

Products for use after bathing

After bathing, the pleasurable pampering program is far from over. Now the skin is happy about delicate body mousse, a rich lotion or moisturizing creams. Ideally, such bath products are free of artificial fragrances, colorants and preservatives. Arms and legs in particular need extra care after bathing, as they have relatively few sebaceous glands. A callus softening cream is also recommended after bathing. It makes the feet soft and tender. A moisture-binding foot cream rounds off the care ritual. Now slip into your cozy bathrobe and warm socks and relax on the couch for at least half an hour if possible!
