Cloth masks

Bio-Cellulose Masks, Hydrogel Masken, facial masks Cloth masks are the latest innovation in the cosmetics sector and much more than just a passing trend. The popularity of the sheet mask lies in its ease of application and the good results it produces immediately. There are two main reasons for this. On the one hand, the application is much easier and more practical than using conventional masks, as there is no need to wash it off and there is also no risk of the product smearing on the skin. On the other hand, the cloth masks also immediately provide better results, because they act as a kind of protective shield on the skin, so that the skin care substances are absorbed much better and do not evaporate in the air. In technical jargon, this is called the occlusion effect. The pores open particularly well due to the accumulated heat under the cloth.

But what are cloth masks and what are they suitable for?

Cloth masks are wafer-thin face masks that are either made of cotton, fleece or viscose and have nourishing ingredients. Either they are soaked with nourishing ingredients, but sometimes they consist entirely of dried serum. In East Asia, they have long been part of the beauty ritual, but they are also gaining in importance here. The cloths are already perfectly tailored to the contours of the face or body; eyes, nose and mouth are naturally left out. Thus, a cloth mask only has to be applied to the skin, spreading paste with the fingers or with a spatula is not necessary. Nothing is deposited on clothes or hair, instead the cloth is simply removed after the application time: done. Cloth masks are perfect moisturizers; depending on the composition of the ingredients, it invigorates or soothes.

Cloth masks act like a membrane on the skin, so care substances can be absorbed more intensively.

okklusiver Effect

It is the ideal anti-ageing mask, but less suitable as a peeling or cleansing mask. It is very important to use a high-quality sheet mask that has been enriched with carefully selected skin care ingredients. In the worst case, a poor-quality sheet mask can even dry out the skin, especially if it is used for too long. That is why it is recommended to use only high-quality products “Made in Germany”.

Cloth masks and their different types

Basically, there are three different types in this area: the fleece mask, the bio-cellulose mask and the hydrogel mask.

The fleece mask has a somewhat rougher surface, it can store care substances in limited quantities and adapts to the contours of the face or body to a limited extent. On the other hand, cloth masks made of fleece are also the cheapest variant. The fibres are usually cellulose, cotton, bamboo or Tencel.

Masks made of bio-cellulose are somewhat better in quality, because they are produced from fermented juice of the coconut in an environmentally friendly process. They adapt optimally to the contours.

The royal class among cloth masks is the hydrogel mask. Strictly speaking, this is not a cloth or fibre, but directly dried serum. Thanks to the gel-like consistency, hydrogel masks adapt best to the shape of the body and are also particularly effective.

The following substrates have already been specially developed for European needs:

  • BioWetTec20 – 100% biodegradable cloth mask
  • WaCoTec100 – Natrue certified
  • SecondSkin100 – Tencel Fibre – the invisible mask
  • HyaCell – BioCellulose extracted from coconut milk

The use of cloth masks

Cloth masks are always applied to cleansed skin. The application time is usually 15 to 20 minutes. The masks are designed for single use and are therefore also individually packaged. This makes them perfect for on the go or when travelling. If some serum remains after application, it can simply be patted into the skin or applied to other parts of the body. There are now sheet masks for every skin type. Whether you have dry, sensitive or impure skin, it is important that the ingredients are optimally matched to the skin type. For a long-lasting skin care effect, however, regular use of the masks is recommended. Once to three times a week, the wipes can be applied without hesitation. Asian women use them even more often, but care must be taken not to over-care the skin. Also important: cloth masks are generally not recommended for acne.

Are sheet masks only suitable for the face and only for women?

Although the trend actually started with cloth masks for the face, hand masks, foot masks and décolleté masks are now also available.

And of course, men can also groom themselves with the innovative masks. However, they are no longer as effective with a certain beard length.

What ingredients do sheet masks have?

Moisturizing sheet masks often consist of ingredients such as hyaluronic acid. It is a natural component of the skin and regresses with age. The result after application: a fresh, smooth and supple complexion. Unsaturated fatty acids and vitamins are also typical ingredients, above all vitamins A and B as well as omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids. They provide a nourishing effect. There are also anti-ageing variants with collagen and allantoin or wipes with aloe vera and algae extracts. In Japan and Korea, women also use cloth masks with tea tree oil, red clay or snail extracts.

Important: Parabens, alcohol and mineral oils have no place in good cloth masks,
