Facial sprays

Facial sprays are also known as ‘face mist’. However, the term has nothing to do with the German word ‘Mist’which means manure or junk, while ‘mist’ simply means ‘fog’ or ‘vapor’ in English. ‘Facial mist’ is a spray for the face. The products are a real treat, especially in summer, as they give our complexion a freshness boost. If they also contain certain ingredients, they are ideal as a quick and easy skin care product for on the go or in between. The high temperatures in summer and the associated dry air are pure stress for our skin. It tightens, tends to redden, feels rough, burns and sometimes itches. No wonder it needs an extra dose of moisturising on a regular basis!

Facial sprays, which can be applied in a matter of seconds thanks to the practical spray bottles and fit into any handbag, envelop the skin in a gentle and nourishing mist and give it new vitality. But what ingredients should facial sprays contain?

 

Facial sprays and their ingredients

Basically, there is a suitable facial spray for every skin type. Sprays also provide valuable services in winter: for example, when the skin feels extremely dry due to constant exposure to heated rooms. Nevertheless, they are mainly used in summer and can now be found in almost every beach bag. They can be kept in the fridge for a particularly refreshing effect.

 

Important ingredients for facial sprays

In order for these little beauty helpers to be fully effective, they should contain low-molecular hyaluronic acid, organic algae or cucumber water, for example. These quench the skin’s thirst and leave it feeling relaxed. Hyaluronic acid also has the ability to plump up fine lines and dryness wrinkles. Organic aloe vera is also a good choice as it has soothing properties, which is particularly beneficial when the sun and wind are hard on the complexion.

 

Nourishing additives for special effects

Rose water gives facial sprays a subtle and slightly sweet rose fragrance, which is perfect for the warm season and puts you in a good mood. It is also able to minimise minor skin blemishes as it has anti-inflammatory properties. If the blemishes are very pronounced, facial sprays containing tea tree oil and/or rice water can be helpful. If you want your skin to have a beautiful glow, use a facial spray with argan oil and/or propolis.

 

Thermal water sprays and their benefits

Many facial sprays are also sold under the name thermal water. Good to know: Only sprays whose water actually comes from thermal springs can be called thermal water sprays! They often contain a particularly high level of natural trace elements and minerals and are also suitable for sensitive skin. They also have a slightly decongestant effect. The ultra-fine spray mist of thermal water can also be used to set make-up.

 

Vitamins and essential oils for extra care

However, facial sprays to which minerals and vitamins have been added work even better. Vitamins C and E are particularly interesting in this context, as they make tired and dull skin glow again. If you also want to do something good for your soul, use facial sprays with essential oils such as lavender, lemon or orange. Depending on their composition, they have either a revitalising or relaxing effect on the psyche.

Environmentally friendly packaging and instructions for use

For the sake of the environment, pump sprays should be preferred. As a rule, two to three pumps per application are sufficient. In the Clean Beauty version, facial sprays are free from ingredients such as potassium sorbate and sodium benzoate.
Ideally, facial sprays should be sprayed on from a distance of 15 to 20 centimetres. Keep your mouth and nose closed as the sprays are only suitable for external use.
