Adenosine triphosphate
Adenosine triphosphate (ATP) is a messenger substance produced naturally in the body that can inhibit inflammatory processes and thus protect against tissue damage. It belongs to the nucleosides and consists of the sugar ß-D-ribose and the nucleic base adenine. One of the ways in which adenosine triphosphate works is by blocking the release of certain activating neurotransmitters such as noradrenaline and dopamine. This blockade leads to an expansion of the blood vessels and thus to a reduction in blood pressure. Adenosine triphosphate can also reduce the heart rate.
In the hypothalamus, adenosine triphosphate triggers the ventrolateral preoptic nucleus. This inhibits the wake and wake-up centres in the brain via the neurotransmitter GABA. Thus, adenosine triphosphate also has a sleep-inducing effect in our body.
In medicine, the active ingredient is often used to treat cardiac arrhythmias. It is also the drug of choice for myocardial scintigraphy.
Adenosine triphosphate has long been used in cosmetics as a white, odourless solid that is almost insoluble in ethanol and soluble in hot water. It is particularly suitable for anti-ageing products because it has the ability to make the skin look younger and firmer. ATP is able to boost the metabolism of cells, thereby effectively counteracting wrinkles. Thanks to its revitalising properties, the active ingredient helps the skin to regenerate and makes it look fresher and more vital.
Adenosine triphosphate is revolutionising the cosmetics industry
Adenosine triphosphate is known in the cosmetics industry as an extremely potent and effective ingredient. When it comes to reducing the signs of skin ageing, it is clearly in a leading position. It penetrates quickly and deeply into the skin and keeps the skin’s own collagen production active by reducing the effect of certain enzymes on collagen. In addition, adenosine triphosphate stimulates the skin’s cell energy, which stimulates blood circulation in the outer layers of the skin and stimulates elastin production. All these mechanisms of action make the skin appear rosier, firmer and more radiant overall. The effect is usually clearly visible. Cosmetics containing adenosine triphosphate can therefore reduce wrinkles, prevent pigmentation and contribute to a noticeable improvement in sagging skin.
Adenosine triphosphate as a “miracle cure” for mature skin
Adenosine triphosphate enjoys an excellent reputation in the anti-aging segment and is even considered a real secret weapon. This is because the active ingredient is able to relax the muscles that are responsible for facial expressions. Almost everyone is familiar with the problem: if these muscles are overly tense, the dreaded expression lines will develop over time, such as crow’s feet, laughter lines and frown lines. These can later develop into deeper wrinkles. Adenosine triphosphate has a relaxing effect on the muscles of the skin by reducing the amount of the transmitter acetylcholine at the transition from nerve to muscle. Existing wrinkles can be smoothed in this way, while at the same time preventing the formation of new wrinkles.
Since adenosine triphosphate can easily penetrate very deep into the skin, the pressure relief of the mimic muscles is often immediately noticeable and visible. The complexion looks significantly more relaxed. But adenosine triphosphate is now not only used in skin and anti-aging care: it is also suitable for hair care, as it has a restorative effect and gives the hair more vitality and volume. The effect is felt directly at the hair roots, effectively promoting natural hair growth.
The fact that adenosine triphosphate is generally very well tolerated makes it a true cosmetic miracle cure. Although skin ageing cannot be stopped completely and forever, it can usually be slowed down very effectively with active ingredients such as adenosine triphosphate. This means that no one has to resign themselves to the rapid appearance of wrinkles and sagging facial contours.
The correct application of cosmetics with ATP
It makes sense to stimulate the skin before applying the product, as this stimulates the microcirculation. In addition, the product should be massaged into the skin with light tapping movements. It is important not to forget the facial contours, as cell renewal needs to be stimulated there too.
