Micellar water

Micellar water

Many women would much rather do without removing makeup at night. To have to drag yourself away from the comfortable settee to go into the bathroom and remove the residues of make-up and other beauty products, is indeed not exactly a favourite pastime; it is however indispensable and important for the skin. After all, this regenerates at night and forms new cells: but if the pores are blocked, this process is disturbed and the skin cannot breathe. Micellar water counts currently as being a real innovation on the market. This is a relatively new and so far unique cleansing product that provides invaluable services as a make-up removal aid.

But what exactly are micelles? These are microscopically small particles that consist of special surfactants. These surfactants have a fat-soluble core and a water-soluble shell. Micellar water therefore appears to not be fatty or creamy like other cleansing products but looks optically like a clear liquid.

The Micellar water: simple cleansing and a radiant skin

The application is simple: micellar  water is usually applied to a cotton pad and then wiped over eyes, face and lips. It is a combination of cleanser, eye make-up remover and facial water and feels very pleasant on the skin. The effect is amazing: all residues are removed with just a few gentle movements, the skin is not irritated and eyes do not sting. A further advantage: rinsing with water is not absolutely necessary. Cleaning with micellar water is therefore also explicitly suitable for sensitive skin. Critics however criticise that the surfactants contained in the micellar water make our skin more permeable, so that harmful substances would be able to penetrate into the body more easily. If micellar water therefore contains additives that are possibly questionable, this could have a negative impact on health, as these critical substances are absorbed by the body much quicker through the micelles. Such surfactants are also contained in many detergents, shampoos and shower gels by the way. Meanwhile natural cosmetics also offer micellar water that does not have any negative ingredients and are therefore absolutely harmless. Irritating substances such as perfume, mineral oil or even silicones have also been consequently avoided, instead responsible manufacturers focus on high-quality natural cosmetics based on natural ingredients.

Natural micellar water is also possible

Basically, micellar water based on natural cosmetics can be used for all skin types, in particular however for dry and sensitive skin. The manufacturers meanwhile also offer different variants for various types of skin, mostly distinguishing between dry skin, fatty skin with a tendency to impurities, normal skin and combination skin. In addition, micellar water is formulated much more easily than cleansing milk, which blocks the pores because of its heavy and often quite fatty texture and can favour the development of blackheads. The micelles, the spherical aggregates with the astonishing effect, enclose residues or impurities and remove these reliably and efficiently. Micellar water is able to free the skin completely from dirt and sebum and also take care of it at the same time. Thanks to their special properties the useful micelles transport moisturizing or fat-replenishing ingredients to the deeper skin layers. Micellar water frees the skin from impurities even in depth, without drying out the skin or attacking the acid protection layer. But as already mentioned, this is only possible in a healthy and skin-friendly manner if critical or questionable ingredients are not used, as is normal in natural cosmetics.

Conclusion: Micellar water yes, but please without questionable additives

Micellar water is undisputedly a revolution on the cosmetics market, for it cleanses and cares for your skin extremely easily, thoroughly and carefully. In addition, it leaves a very pleasant skin sensation and is very well tolerated in case of an optimum composition. Consumers should however resort to products without questionable additives, as micelles make the skin more permeable and therefore more receptive for harmful substances. Whoever consistently focuses on buying natural cosmetics is always on the safe side and really does their skin good.
