Skincare Booster

highly concentrated products, One active ingredient, skincare booster

To be able to personalize daily skin care, to tailor it to the individual needs of the skin, the lifestyle, thereby creatively and flexibly supplementing the routine, to react specifically to acute skin problems, to focus on radiance, protection, or anti-aging. These are the expectations of personalized skin care. More than half of cosmetics users are interested in such personalized or personalizable products (Mintel survey) and around 70 percent would even spend more money on them. The answer is highly dosed active ingredient concentrates with functional ingredients that boost the efficiency of cosmetic products with pinpoint accuracy. This task is performed by so-called skincare boosters.

Skincare boosters: high-dosage active ingredient concentrates with a targeted mission

The term “boost” is to be taken literally. They “boost” certain skincare aspects and give the skin targeted impulses.  In skincare boosters, the active ingredients are many times more concentrated than in creams and lotions for daily use. Skincare boosters are therefore highly concentrated specialists that can be easily integrated into the daily skincare routine. The aim is to address a specific skin need or skin problem and to boost other skincare ingredients, whether for protection, for more glow, more moisture, more resilience, for anti-aging, for repair, e.g., after the sun, for detox or against impurities, for a vitamin boost, more freshness – whether for the face, neck and décolleté, hands, body, problem zones such as cellulite.

Skincare boosters fulfill another essential expectation of consumers, namely to respond individually, creatively, and flexibly to the needs of their skin without having to change their entire skincare regimen. Multiple skincare boosters for different aspects can be used together in a specialist team.

Each skincare booster offers the possibility to adapt the skincare routine specifically to the needs of the skin

The application is simple. The skincare booster can be applied before the respective skincare cream or mixed with it and applied simultaneously in the mix.

Pour day or night cream into the palm of your hand.

Add a few drops of the selected skincare booster in the personalization step.

Apply the mix to the skin as usual.

The highly concentrated skincare boosters are O/W emulsions or serums that can be easily dispensed by pump shot or pipette.

Some examples of skincare booster formulations:

Radiant skin & protection: skincare booster with Curcuma longa

At a skincare booster concentration of 10% (otherwise 0.1% – 1%), Curcuma Longa (Tumeric) Root Extract is ideal for radiant, even-toned skin, balanced skin tone, wrinkle reduction and antioxidant protection.

Known as a spice and vegetable, the turmeric plant is native to South Asia and belongs to the ginger family. In Ayurvedic medicine, the rhizomes are used to treat wounds and inflammation. The paste gives the complexion a beautiful, full glow at Indian weddings. For more exciting information, read our matching post “ayurvedic cosmetics”.

The skincare booster can be used together with the day moisturizer, after sports, spending time in the sun and is also ideal for the zone under the eyes.

Balance and purity: skincare booster with Phytosphingosine Hydrochloride

In a skincare booster concentration of 0.5% (otherwise 0.05% – 0.2%), Phytosphingosine HCI has a calming effect on stressed skin, strengthens the skin barrier, has an anti-inflammatory effect, supports the relief of acne, promotes the disappearance of papules and pustules, and reduces the formation of new comedones.

Phytosphingosine Hydrochloride is a skin-identical sphingoid base that occurs as a component of ceramides in the stratum corneum of the skin. It is part of the skin’s own immune system and natural antimicrobial defenses.

The skincare booster can be used together with creams against skin impurities, acne products, primers, after facial cleansing.

Anti-aging/anti-wrinkle: Tetrapeptide Booster

Peptides help regenerate skin’s own repair and regeneration processes and can stimulate collagen synthesis. Consequently, they are often used in products for mature skin, for a more youthful appearance, anti-wrinkle creams.

Tetrapeptide-21 (INCI: Tetrapeptide-21, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Water) from the four amino acids glycine-glutamic acid-lysine-glycine belongs to the group of signal peptides and leads to increased formation of collagen, hyaluronic acid, and fibronectin.

It improves skin elasticity and firmness, smoothes the skin surface and reduces the visibility of lines and wrinkles.

The skincare booster uses it in a concentration of 10% (otherwise 1-5%) and can be used together with day moisturizer, night cream, face masks, eye cream and hand cream.

Anti-cellulite: skincare booster with xymenynic acid

Xymenynic acid (INCI: Xymenynic Acid) is also called santalbic acid, because it is extracted from the seed oil of the sandalwood tree (Santalum album).

It improves microcirculation, oxygenation, stimulates skin metabolism.

It reduces the visibility of cellulite, improves the body silhouette, gives the skin a much firmer appearance and better tone.

In the skincare booster, the active ingredient is used in a concentration of 5% (otherwise 1 – 2.5%) and can be used together with the appropriate body care.

Barrier booster with skin-identical ceramides

The waxy ceramides that occur naturally in the skin fill the spaces between the skin cells of the epidermis. They are elemental to the protective function of the skin barrier.

A skincare booster that covers the spectrum of different ceramides (NP, NS, EOS, EOP, AP) with skin-identical molecular structure and combines them with sphingosines, cholesterol and free fatty acids is ideal for building the lamellar structure of the skin’s lipid layer. It strengthens the protective skin barrier, prevents water loss through the skin, increases the content of NMF (natural moisturizing factors) and stimulates the formation of skin lipids.

The skincare booster uses a concentration of 10% (otherwise 0.5-5%) and can be combined with day moisturizer, after sun, body, décolleté lotion.
