System care
System care: What is it and what are its benefits?
System care describes the use of care products in cosmetics that are optimally coordinated with their respective care substances. The first system care was created in 1968 and at that time included a bar of soap, a lotion and facial toner. Even today, leading experts are of the opinion that system care is much more effective than the use of different care lines and individual products. That is why there are now also system care ranges for really every skin type, which have been specially adapted to the respective needs of the skin. A characteristic feature of system skin care products is that they usually contain a certain main active ingredient that runs through the entire skin care line like a red thread.
Which products are part of an optimal system care?
System skincare includes several steps: Sometimes there are four, but often there are five different steps. The first step is always cleansing. In order to care for the facial skin perfectly and to keep it beautiful and healthy in the long term, it should be cleansed thoroughly but also gently twice a day, ideally in the morning and in the evening. After all, this is the only way to ensure that skin care products actually have the opportunity to unfold their effect sufficiently. It is essential to ensure that no dirt and/or deposits penetrate into deeper skin regions. Here, for example, a cleansing milk or a cleansing gel appropriate to the skin type can be used.
Basically, cleansing fulfils the following functions:
– It leaves the skin feeling clean and fresh.
– It fights impurities and deposits.
– It removes pollutants and dirt.
– And it allows fats to flow out.
In second place is the freshness kick. Facial tonic refreshes the skin and neutralises any residues from tap water, it restores the skin’s protective acid mantle and ensures an optimal pH value.
Now the skin’s appearance is clear and clean: the third step follows, in which the skin’s moisture reservoirs are replenished. In addition, this step paves the way to deeper skin layers, so the skin is prepared, so to speak, for the subsequent care. This step is best achieved with intensive moisturisers.
Now selected active ingredients can be transported in a very targeted way to the place where the skin is built up. These active ingredients are individually adapted to the respective skin type or the needs of the skin. Since the skin is now very receptive, the products are absorbed very quickly. This so-called active ingredient supply at the skin source fulfils the following functions of the system care:
– Lasting deep action
– Concentrated supply of active ingredients for different skin needs
– Active cell and tissue regeneration
Highly effective serums or boosters are usually used for this step.
Now the skin is already well cared for and the fourth step follows: the final care, which is usually the day or night care. Depending on the skin’s needs and the product, it is designed to deliver a few more active ingredients in addition to the pure protective function in order to achieve the desired result.
The finishing care thus has the following functions in the system care:
– It leaves the skin feeling supple and smooth.
– It protects the skin from external influences.
– It seals the active ingredients of the previous steps.
– It mobilises the skin’s natural protective layer.
Figuratively speaking, this is the skin’s bodyguard.
Now, depending on the condition of the skin, a fifth step with a special product can be added. This can be a rich mask, a peeling, a special eye care, an immediate lifting or a sun care.
In summary, the four- or five-step system care leads to the following results:
– It provides increased moisture retention and improved hydration.
– It ensures removal of pollutants and increased skin metabolism.
– It allows for increased nutrient utilisation and improved self-motivation of the skin.
In general, it is now considered very important to follow the individual steps of system care (cleansing, freshness, moisturising, depth, finishing and special care) and to use only optimally coordinated products. The coordinated selection of raw materials and active ingredients and the consideration of the individual skin type create an additive effect, i.e., the individual effects of the products can add up to reinforce each other. For this reason, it is always better if all products of the system care come from only one series.
